Welcome to Our 3rd Grade Classroom Community!
Our classroom is a place where every child is valued, and I am committed to ensuring a positive, joyful learning experience for all. I believe that every student thrives in a supportive environment where they feel safe to learn and grow. To help our community shine, we follow the Battle Lake Elementary PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports) approach, which helps us share clear, kind expectations across our entire school.
Whole Brain Teaching Elementary Guidelines:
Follow directions quickly.
Raise your hand for permission to speak.
Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat.
Make smart choices.
Be respectful to your teacher(s) and classmates.
As a team, we will also brainstorm our own unique class rules to make sure our room feels like home.
HOW WE LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES:
1. A gentle verbal reminder or warning
2. An opportunity to “practice” the choice that helps us grow
3. A short time for quiet reflection away from the group
4. Using a Think Sheet to help us process our choices
5. Support from the office and a collaborative conversation with family
Think Sheets are a helpful tool for students to reflect on their choices and partner with their families in their social growth. If a student fills out a Think Sheet, we ask for a family member’s signature so we can all stay connected. This is an opportunity for a supportive discussion at home after the student has been given multiple chances to reset and turn their day around.
I believe that each day is a fresh start. My mission is to inspire every student, and I will work tirelessly to keep our classroom a warm, inviting place where everyone can succeed!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
