Head Coach: Brad Baumann

Brad Baumann begins his seventh season as head girls coach, and 21st season coaching basketball heading into the 2023-24 season.  Along with coaching basketball, Brad teaches social studies and is the varsity football offensive coordinator at Royalton High School.  Prior to Royalton High School, Brad was a social studies teacher and assistant basketball coach at Maple Lake High School for ten years. Along with coaching basketball, he coached  football and baseball at various levels for 8+ years.

Brad graduated from St Cloud State University with a degree in social studies education and earned his masters degree in education from St Mary's University.

Brad is originally from North Branch High School where he participated in Football, Basketball, Baseball and earned 10 athletic letters, 6 All Conference Awards (3 Basketball, 2 Football and 1 Baseball), Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association All State, AP All State Honorable Mention in Basketball, Academic All State Football, Academic All State Basketball and participated in the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association All Star Game. He accumulated 1,262 points for his high school basketball career and currently holds the NBHS career record for Passing Yards and Passing Touch Downs in Football. In 2014 he was inducted into the North Branch High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

His dad, Bill Baumann spent 30+ years as a social studies teacher and head boys basketball coach at North Branch High School, retiring in 2010. Since then he has been inducted into 3 different coaching Hall of Fames (NBHS, MN Basketball Coaches Association and MN High School Coaches Association). After retiring from North Branch, he filled his  open schedule as the varsity assistant boys basketball coach at Cambridge-Isanti High School for almost 10 years.

Brad and his wife Tyra have a daughter, Beckett and 3 dogs, Sprinkles, Thor and Rocky.  They all reside in Royalton.


Mindy Klosowski, JV Coach & Varsity Assistant 


Mindy returns to her alma mater and starts her first season as the Royalton Girls Basketball JV Coach.  Mindy is a 2000 graduate of Royalton High School where she participated and lettered in Volleyball, Basketball, Track, Softball and Football.  As a member of the basketball team, Mindy won numerous individual accolades.  She was a WCCO player of the week, All Conference and a Conference & team MVP.   Mindy was a member of the first Royalton girls basketball conference champion team in 1998-99. She was also a key contributor on the three time section runner up teams from 97-99.  Mindy’s statistical success has put her in the Royalton record books.  She is 8th on the RHS scoring list, 5th in FG%, 10th in rebounds and 6th in blocks.  She shares the record for most points in a single game with 36 and she played in 91 varsity games for the Royals.  Mindy has 7 years of basketball coaching experience from the junior to varsity levels.  She was also on the varsity coaching staff for the Hinckley-Finlayson girls team that went to state in 2008. 


Mindy’s husband is Josh and they have 3 kids: Macey, Larry and Louie.  She also has a dog names Deke.


Britt Baumann, Assistant Coach

Britt starts his seventh year as assistant coach in the basketball program.  Britt is the younger brother of head coach Brad Baumann.  Britt has numerous years of coaching and training in various sports.  Britt spent over six years working as one of the head trainers at Explode Sports Training.  In high school Britt was a 3 sport athlete competing in football (Minnesota Associated Press 1st team all-state kicker), basketball and tennis (conference singles champion).  After high school Britt became a 4 year starter for the University of Minnesota-Duluth football team, and few years ago was inducted into the North Branch High School Athletic Hall of Fame.  

Britt currently works for Spacecrafting Real Estate Photography ,where he photographs homes that will be going on  the market.  Britt resides in Sauk Rapids.


Bill Baumann, Volunteer Coach

Bill’s enters his 4th year at Royalton as the volunteer varsity assistant coach.  Bill is the dad of Head Coach Brad Baumann & Assistant Coach Britt Baumann.  Bill has over 45 years of coaching experience not just in basketball but also in other sports such as football and baseball.  Bill grew up in Waseca, MN & attended St John’s University.  After college he spent a handful of years teaching social studies & coaching at Villard HS (MN).  In 1979 he became the Head Boys basketball coach at North Branch HS, where he also taught Social Studies.  Bill remained in that position at North Branch until he retired in 2011 (he also spent some time as Athletic Director during that time period).  As the head basketball coach Bill won over 400 games, won a number of conference championships & went to the state tournament twice.  After retirement, Bill was elected into 3 different Hall of Fames: North Branch HS HOF, MN Boys Basketball Coaches Association HOF and MN Coaches Association HOF.  After 2 years of retirement, he got back into coaching basketball taking the job of Varsity Boys Basketball Assistant Coach at Cambridge-Isanti HS.  While coaching at Cambridge the team made it to 2 state tournaments.  Bill retired from that position after the 2019-20 season and is now going to help the RHS Girls Basketball program.

 

After living in North Branch for over 30 years, Bill now lives in St. Cloud with his wife Carol.


Emily Malikowski, Varsity Assistant


Emily will be starting her first year as assistant coach for the Royals.  While its her first year coaching, Emily is no stranger to Royalton.  She is a 2020 graduate of Royalton where she was a 3 sport all-conference selection (volleyball, basketball, softball) as well as a multi-year Lion’s Female Athlete of the year.  While playing basketball for the Royals, Emily put her name all over the record book.  She was the 3rd Royal girls basketball player to surpass the 1,000 point mark.  She holds the school record for 3 pointers made in a career and is also top 10 in assists, steals and games played.  Emily was a key member of 3 basketball conference championship teams and played on the 2019-2020 team that finished tied with the most wins in school history with 23.  After high school Emily attended Minnesota State-Moorhead where she is currently wrapping up her student teaching experience which will complete her degree for elementary education.
