Mixed Chorus: The Mixed Chorus is an ensemble open to Sopranos and Altos in 9th grade and Tenors and Basses in grades 9-12. This group focuses primarily on studying proper, healthy, and effective vocal technique, musical literacy, and exploring the finer elements of choral artistry. This ensemble meets daily during 2nd period. Members of this ensemble are expected to enroll in choir all three trimesters. Exceptions to this enrollment rule are extremely rare and are taken on a case-by-case basis with Mr. Moe.
Audacia: Audacia is a 10-12 grade Soprano/Alto ensemble that meets daily during first period. Members of Audacia are selected via an audition process in the Spring. Students who have earned membership in the ensemble study vocal technique, musical literacy, and higher-level artistic ideas in choral singing. Members of this ensemble are expected to enroll in choir all three trimesters.
Concert Choir: Concert Choir is an ensemble which meets during third period. It is open to Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, and Basses in grades 10-12. Membership is determined via an audition in the Spring and typically follows membership in either Mixed Chorus or Audacia. Members of this group continue to practice proper vocal technique and hone in on higher levels of choral musicianship. Concert Choir has a history of being invited to various choral festivals and Concert Choir members should be aware that if such an event arises the same expectations for performance attendance apply to that concert the same way as one of the regular curricular concerts that happen throughout the year.
Alba Coro: Alba Coro is an ensemble made of 10-12 grade students auditioned out of the Concert Choir. This ensemble also functions as the Royal Court during our biannual Madrigal Dinners. Auditions for this group occur in the Fall. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 7:00 am.
