When you complete your first challenge, you will receive a SUPER COOL MATH pencil for all of your hard work and effort on the challenge!
Then, for each additional challenge you complete, your name will go into a monthly drawing for some AWESOME prizes!

Here's an excellent opportunity to do a different type of math with your child! Problem solving skills are critical to develop. Guide your child through the problems by asking questions. Help your child to persevere and apply what he/she has learned to the questions.
Each Math in Action challenge is a set of word problems for you to work through with your family. They are meant to challenge you, so don't give up! Persevere and think about how you can use what you know to creatively and critically solve the problem!

Every other week, you will find a new challenge sheet with 16 problems on it. Your grade level determines the minimum number of questions to answer on the math challenge page. But, the choice is yours for which questions you answer! How cool is that!?
The minimum number of questions for you to try depends on your grade level.
Kindergarten or First Grade: 3 questions
Second or Third Grade: 6 questions
Fourth or Fifth Grade: 12 questions
The purpose of this program is to entice, engage and challenge students to solve interesting math problems while along the way, strengthen their math fundamentals, critical thinking, problem solving skills and improve confidence in math. Students can also involve their families to help and engage in a fun discussion to solve math problems.
