Mr. Awe's Classroom Rules and Procedures

Classroom Rules and Procedures 2022-2023 for Mr. Awe

I am your math teacher this school year.

LET’S HAVE A GREAT YEAR!!!

Classroom Rules:

  1. Respect the instructor’s (or substitute instructor’s) right to teach.

  2. Respect the other students’ right to learn

  3. Respect the school property and individual property of others in the classroom.

My expectations of my students:

  1. My students will behave appropriately.

  2. My students will try to do their assignments and let me know if they need help.

  3. Students who are Absent for a School Activity will get the assignment ahead of time since they will not get an extra day for the assignment (this is part of being in school activities), unless otherwise approved by me.

Ladder of Consequences (more than one may be assigned depending upon the situation):

This is a ladder -- each step from 2-5 will be assigned once only

  1. Warning (this may be to an individual or to a larger group)

  2. Detention (usually with me) Writing Assignment

  3. In-School Suspension

  4. Behavior Contract

  5. Removal from class for the Semester (with no credit for the class)

Assignments:

Assignments or exams will be done/assigned daily.

Each assignment is due by class time the next day (Friday’s assignments are due on Monday).

Each assignment is worth 10 points.

Assignments that are late will be worth no more than 6 points.

Assignments turned in on time will be graded based upon how many problems are correct and how many problems are done.

Assignments given when a student is on vacation should be turned in before the student leaves or have permission from Mr. Awe to turn in later with a date.

Ways to turn in Your Homework:

Turn it into the homework bin during the day OR turn it in to Mr. Awe directly.

Take a picture of it and send it to Mr. Awe’s email wawe@isd361.org

Extra Credit:

10 points - Box of Kleenex (first two weeks only)

5 points - Each signed grade printout returned during the quarter, electronically or in person.

5 points - 2 Bronco Power Cards (one time each quarter)

Test Taking Rules:

  1. If there is a substitute, ALL students take the test - If you would not have had to take it, you and I will straighten that out when I get back.

  1. Students gone for school activities need to talk to Mr. Awe BEFORE the absence to arrange what to do.

  1. You do NOT have to take the exam if:

You were absent the previous 2 days OR 3 of the past 4 days (excluding days absent for any school activity);

  1. You will receive a ZERO on an exam if:

a. You are caught looking at another student’s paper or using illegal “notes”;

b. You talk to another student or get help during the exam w/o permission;

c. You have an unexcused absence that day or don’t turn in your exam in class;

d. You don’t make up a missed test within one week of returning to class (non-school activity absences).
