The "Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines" (CSTAG) is a research-based framework designed to help schools prevent violence by assessing and managing threats in a systematic and effective way. Each building in the Grand Rapids Area Schools has a designated CSTAG team responsible for implementing these guidelines. The CSTAG process helps school staff identify potential threats, assess their seriousness, and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the school community. Emphasizing intervention and support over punishment, CSTAG aims to resolve conflicts and prevent violence.
