ON TIME: Arrive in the classroom and be in your chosen seat by the bell.
DESK: Remain in your seat from bell-to-bell with backpacks under desks during instruction time.
PREPARED: Have required materials each day and make sure your iPads are charged and ready for daily use.
R.E.S.P.E.C.T: Respect for and among teachers, students and toward school facilities is paramount.
CONTRIBUTE: Please contribute to class learning and discussion – history nerdom is celebrated!
PASS: Don’t Ask, grab the pass on your way out the door… No exit in the first or last 5 minutes of class.
ON TIME 2.0: Late work will be accepted to the end of the quarter grading period, but for reduced credit.
QUALITY: Quality of work reflects you as a student and working creatively beyond expectations is desired.
ORIGINAL: Original thinking is a requirement of this course, and anything borrowed in research must be cited formally (or informally). Information literacy (originality vs plagiarism) will be a focal point in our learning, including the proactive, intentional and proper use of AI in writing and research.
FOOD: Food and drink that is not a distraction to the classroom environment is allowed.
DRESS: Hats, hoods and the many other dress codes of the student handbook are enforced in the classroom.
MEDIA: Phones must be stowed in bags below desk once instruction begins (*see new school policy). iPads will be used frequently for instruction, reading & research. Ear pieces must be out of ears and stowed during all instruction times.
INTERPersonal: Numerous opportunities to work collaboratively and share in the
decision-making will require academic maturity and overcoming the inherent difficulties.
QUESTION: The vehicle of history is INQUIRY -- ask questions, find interests and explore widely.
