April 2024

Hello Horace May Students and Families!

As I mentioned last month, time seems to go so quickly and here we are already heading into April!

This is a busy month for us, our PTO has planned a Family Fun Night for Friday April 26 and we have MCA testing this month for our third grade students.  I want to thank our PTO for funding our GaGa Ball Pit!  It is planned to be an outdoor activity for our students. They are starting to get a little bored at recess, so we decided to jazz it up a bit.  A couple of teachers, that have played GaGa Ball with students tell me it is a lot of fun!  That will be ordered soon and put together, it is portable, so we have the option to bring it inside.

We have MCA testing for our third graders.  They will test reading on April 16 and 17, and then math April 23 and 24.  Teachers work with them to know reading and math foundational skills, but also work on sustaining their focus and persistence.  Just a quick word about MCA testing. It is one day; it could be a good day, it could be a bad day, it could be a sad day.  It is only one day.  Your child does their best, if they get a good score, that's great.  If not, please don't take away their self confidence and dignity.  Tell them it's okay, it's just a test and they are cut out for bigger things in life.  Tell them no matter the score ... you love them just as they are!

Thank you so much for your help and support.  We love your children and like you, want the very best for them.  As always, please contact me if you have questions or concerns.

Thank you for sharing your children with us!
