Originally, the McKinney Act was proposed in 1990 to acknowledge that students in housing transition experience barriers to educational enrollment and success. The Act ensures that every school has a McKinney-Vento program that is to be used to support the educational needs of students in transition.
This program assists students with enrolling, attending, and succeeding in school.
