PEM Girls Track Guidelines and Expectations
We believe in dependability, sportsmanship, responsibility, and in being a good ambassador of PEM track and field. These traits will carry an athlete farther than any accolade they will ever receive in track and field. Because of this belief, we will follow the MSHL rules and in addition we will ask that all athletes follow the following team rules based on dependability, sportsmanship, and responsibility.
Be at practice every day, don't leave early, be there until the work is done. If you are too injured to practice, you are too injured to compete
Be at all of your events at the meets and be in uniform ready to compete from the first event to the last event, do not leave early, do not change into street clothes when you are done.
Practice relay exchanges the day before the meet, and before the meet starts, don't let your relays down.
Be a good role model, little eyes are always watching.
Encourage your teammates, cheer for them no matter what place they are in a race. Build your teammates up, do not tear them down.
Win with class and lose with class. It's ok to show emotion, but do so in a respectful way, win or lose.
Let you coaches know of anything that would prevent you from making it to practice or from competing in an event, do this as soon as possible.
Be on the track for a team warm up at the start of every meet and be on the track at the end of every meet for a cool down.
Take care of your equipment, uniform, and competition field. We have some of the best equipment, uniforms, and facilities in the area, help keep them maintained and clean.
Be on time for the bus. The team rides together to away meets. Athletes that want to ride home with their parents may do so, parents can sign them out. No students can leave with anyone other than their parents. We encourage athletes to ride the bus home as a team.
Promote track and field as much as possible. If the sport has had a positive impact on you, tell others.
Promote a positive image of PEM schools, PEM athletics, and PEM track and field. Let people know that black and gold runs through your veins
Encourage the youth, no matter the age, no matter the school, no matter the ability. Encourage them to stick with it and never give up, never quit.
Any violation of these guidelines could mean suspension from a meet, or dismissal from the team.
