Health Insurance is critical in retirement. If you are at least 65 you can sign up to be covered by Medicare. If you want to retire earlier than 65, you can pay to stay on Bloomington School's Health Insurance Plan. Check out details in section 10.2 of your 2023-2025 BFT Teacher Contract. You must notify the district in writing at least 90 days before your retirement to be eligible.
Once you finalize your retirement date please submit a letter of resignation/retirement to Human Resources with a copy to your supervisor/principal. Information on continuing insurance benefits will be mailed to your home from Benefit Extras. Contact Mary Burroughs at mburroughs@isd271.org if you have any questions. To be eligible for a $2,000 retirement incentive you must inform the district of your retirement in writing by Feb 15th.
