Project Choices

Choose a 20 point project.

Design a poster/presentation/website/cartoon that compares & contrasts: (choose 1)

• The U.S. Constitution’s features of separation of powers, federalism, checks and balances, and branches of government with the constitution of Mexico or Nigeria

• How a public policy issue issue is addressed in the U.S. with how it is dealt with by Mexico or Nigeria (be sure to include how the issues relates to both civil society and the government)

• How the U.S. conducts elections with how Mexico or Nigeria do their elections

• Design your own version of the U.S. citizenship exam, which includes at least 20 questions. Assume that people who take the exam are from Mexico or Nigeria and design a study guide and answer key to help them prepare for the U.S. citizenship exam you created.

Write an essay comparing and contrasting the role of political parties and elections in the U.S. and Mexico or Nigeria. Argue for which system is more democratic.

Write a newspaper article, interview, letter, story, or play where someone from Mexico or Nigeria learns how their country’s government and politics are similar and different to the U.S. What you create should encompass national institutions of government, civil society, and elections and should emulate the format you selected.
