sIDELINE cHEERLEADING
Sideline cheerleaders will be cheering on the sideline at Home Varsity Football Games! These teams practice once weekly and cheer all home games.
We encourage everyone interested in being a member of Friday Night Lights to join our squad! Previous experience in cheerleading/tumbling is not required!

Varsity south
June 17th - Mid November (End of Post Season)
Grades 8th - 12th* (as of the 24-25 School year)
PRACTICE: Mondays (TBD evening - for two hours)
All Varsity Home COUGAR Football Games (this includes Lakeville North vs. South depending on location)
Possible Section & Post Season Games

TRYOUT REQUIREMENTS
(MUST BE REGISTERED TO ATTEND CLINICS & TRYOUT)
What to expect at Tryout Clinics:
We will teach and introduce basic skills required for the season
Learn the material required for the actual tryout which includes the School Song, a jump, dance, and a sideline cheer
Coaches will be observing soft skills such as attitude, sportsmanship, encouraging other members, enthusiasm, and overall energy
What to expect at Tryouts:
Members will be allowed to tryout in groups of two
All material will be performed in front of a small panel of judges (judges will let you know when to do each skill)
Placements will be posted by Saturday of Tryout week
What are judges looking for at tryouts:
STRONG energy (We want to see you smiling and having FUN!!)
A solid understanding of the material taught at clinics
Sharp and correct motion placements
Sideline Cheer - strong & loud voice, spiriting at the end
School Song - sharp motions, correct motion placements, and ability to say words loud and proud
Dance - good energy, fun to watch!
How to prepare for Tryouts:
Attend OPEN GYMS and all tryout clinics. Ask questions on areas you do not fully understand
PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!! Many reps will be required for memorization!
Practice in front of a mirror to see motion placements and overall energy (are you smiling the whole time)
Open Gyms in April are optional but a really great way to get started in cheer!
