Student / Teacher iPad has Bluetooth disabled Fix → Enable Bluetooth on both devices
Student / Teacher iPad has powered / in sleep mode Fix → Press Home button or power iPad on
iPad is connected to a different wireless access point Fix → Turn Wifi off/on. Power the device off/on again if needed
Students not appearing in Apple Classroom
Talk to your building scheduler. Students must be rostered to your class in Campus to appear in Apple Classroom. Class rosters update every night.
Students listed as “Offline” in Apple Classroom App
Students may have turned off Wifi or be on a different Wifi network. Have students disconnect Wifi, then rejoin “ISD194” Wifi network. Restart the teacher iPad if problem persists.
Cannot send students to an app
Both the teacher and the student must have the app installed on their iPad. For example, the student AND the teacher must have the “Notability” app downloaded on their iPads in order for the teacher to send the student to the “Notability” app. Download apps from Self Service as needed.
Cannot send students to a website
Teachers must BOOKMARK websites in SAFARI before they are sent to students in Apple Classroom. Follow the guide here for instructions on how to bookmark Safari websites. Students do not need to bookmark Safari websites, only teachers who wish to send students to a particular website via Apple Classroom.
Q: How are students loaded into my Apple Classroom?
A: All Apple Classroom information is imported from Campus. Any changes in data take 24 hours to process. Please submit a technology ticket if you see errors in your Apple Classroom student data.
Q: Can students disable Apple Classroom?
A: No. Apple Classroom relies on Bluetooth connectivity. If a student disables Bluetooth or WiFi, a notification icon is displayed on the teacher iPad next to the student name. If a student turns off or restarts their iPad, the device will return to Apple Classroom.
Q: What happens if teachers forget to unlock students?
A: Apple Classroom uses bluetooth proximity, so students are automatically disconnected from Apple Classroom.
Q: Can I change the names of my classes?
A: No. Apple Classroom receives information from Campus which cannot be modified.
Q: Can co-teachers or guest teachers view my class?
A: Apple Classroom draws on the rosters assigned to staff in Campus. Contact your office manager or submit a Campus support ticket to change course rostering. Guest teachers are not able to utilize Apple Classroom at this time.
