Haddorff Claims 3rd place in section 6AA
Burnsville junior captain Luke Haddorff capped off a terrific 2017 season on Tuesday, with a third place finish in the Section 6AA singles tournament at the Baseline Tennis Center. Haddorff, the #3 seed, was matched up against #2-seeded John Webb of Edina in the semifinals. The two players battled through a first set tiebreaker, before the set, and ultimately the match, ended in favor of Webb, 6-7 (7), 1-6. Luke still had an opportunity to end his season on a winning note in the Third Place match, and he did just that, defeating Edina's Luke Westholder, 6-3, 6-1. Luke ended the season by winning 10 of his final 11 matches. Congratulations on a great season, Luke!

Section 6AA Tournament Update
Six members of the Burnsville boys tennis team represented the Blaze in Section 6AA Singles and Doubles competition at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center on Friday. Zach McGovern dropped his first round singles match against Ian Klein of Bloomington Jefferson (4-6, 1-6), bringing his season and his outstanding BHS career to a close. Luke Haddorff received automatic entry into the Round of 16, thanks to the first round bye that accompanied his #3 seed. Luke emerged victorious against Andrew Campbell of Benilde-St. Margaret's (6-1, 6-0), advancing to the quarterfinals. Luke also breezed through his quarterfinal match, defeating Mason Peterson of Bloomington Jefferson (6-0, 6-2), and setting up a semifinal showdown on Tuesday against #2 seed John Webb of Edina.
In doubles competition, Jack and Sam Bardwell faced the Apple Valley duo of Thompson and Miller in the first round, ending up on the short end of a hard-fought, three-set match (6-2, 1-6, 5-7). Burnsville's other team of Sutton Strander and Tyler Haddorff won their first round match against the Minneapolis Southwest team of Berestka and Keehn (6-2, 6-3). The victory earned them a second-round match-up against the #2-seeded Bloomington Jefferson tandem of Beckers and Punnoose, which ended in favor of the Jaguars (0-6, 1-6).

Lightning strikes twice
For the second time this season, the #9-ranked Eastview Lightning beat the Burnsville Blaze by a score of 6-1. This time, the Section 6AA quarterfinal loss ended Burnsville's 2017 season. Luke Haddorff claimed the lone point for the Blaze, extending his personal winning streak to seven matches. Luke will play in the 6AA individual singles tournament as the #3 seed, beginning on Friday, May 26. Zach McGovern will also represent the Blaze in the singles tournament. In doubles competition, Burnsville will be represented by the #8-seeded tandem of Jack and Sam Bardwell, and the team of Sutton Strander and Tyler Haddorff.
As a team, the Blaze improved upon last season's win total by seven matches. Congratulations to the entire Burnsville boys tennis team on a very strong season!

Blaze Sink Lakers in Section 6AA
Despite the return of the cold weather, the Burnsville boys tennis team was on fire Thursday afternoon at BHS. The #7-seeded Blaze cruised to a 7-0 victory over the #10-seeded Minneapolis Southwest Lakers in the Section 6AA Tournament. The Blaze advance to face the Eastview Lightning, ranked #9 in the state, and seeded #2 in Section 6AA, on May 22nd.

Celebrating Burnsville Boys Tennis
The Blaze boys tennis teams and their families gathered for a celebration of the 2017 season at the BHS Boys Tennis Banquet on Monday, May 15th ... and what a season it has been! Just one year removed from a 1-14 record, and a winless conference season, the Blaze varsity posted a winning record in the South Suburban Conference, and they enter the Section 6AA tournament as the #7 seed, with a 7-7 record overall. Both JV teams finished the season with winning records, and a total of 50 players participated in the program this year. Thanks to Coach Haddorff, Coach Eggers, and Coach Strader for a terrific season, and good luck to the Blaze in Section 6AA competition!

Section 6AA Seeds announced
Burnsville earned the #7 seed in the Section 6AA boys team tennis tournament. Luke Haddorff will enter the singles draw as the #3 seed, while Jack and Sam Bardwell are seeded #8 in doubles competition.
2018 Team Captains
The Burnsville Blaze boys varsity tennis team introduced its captains for the 2018 season. 2018 seniors Luke Haddorff and Sutton Strander, along with 2018 junior Sam Bardwell, will serve as captains for the Blaze next season.
#10 Millers Grind Out Victory Over Blaze
The Burnsville boys varsity tennis team dropped its regular season finale to #10-ranked Minneapolis Washburn by a score of 2-5. The Blaze will enter Section 6AA play with a 7-7 record.
The JV Gold team completed its 2017 campaign with a 5-2 win at Minneapolis Washburn, finishing the season with a record of 7-6. The JV Black squad will finish the season at Eastview on Tuesday.

Blaze Soar Past Eagles
The Burnsville varsity tennis team won its third consecutive conference match on Thursday, defeating Apple Valley by a score of 4-3. In the process, the Blaze finished with a winning record in South Suburban Conference play, while also improving to 5-1 at home, and 7-6 overall.

Blaze Overwhelm Sabers
The Blaze varsity tennis team improved its home record to 4-1, and evened its conference record at 4-4, with a convincing 7-0 victory over Shakopee on Tuesday. In Shakopee, the JV Gold team had its three-match winning streak snapped, falling to the Sabers by a score of 3-4. On Wednesday, the JV Black squad beat Shakopee 4-3 at Neill Park.

JV Black Tames Wildcats
After two cancellations due to rain, the Burnsville JV Black team finally matched up against Eagan on Monday afternoon, and the Blaze cruised to an impressive 7-0 victory at Neill Park in Burnsville.

Raiders Are Lights Out vs. Blaze
The Burnsville varsity tennis team traveled to Hastings to take on the 13-1 Raiders under the lights on Friday night. The Blaze played some great tennis, but in the end, they fell to the Raiders by a score of 2-5. Hastings has now won 14 straight matches, after dropping their season opener, against #2-ranked East Ridge. Luke Haddorff cruised to a straight sets victory at #1 singles, while the Bardwell brothers earned a dramatic 3-set, come-from-behind win at #1 doubles. Earlier in the day, the JV Gold squad defeated Hastings at BHS, by a score of 4-3, to claim their third win in a row.

Blaze Sail Past Lakers
The boys varsity tennis team returned to its winning ways, with a 5-2 triumph at Prior Lake. The Blaze swept the doubles matches, and the Haddorff brothers added a pair of victories in singles competition. The JV Gold team also prevailed, winning 7-0 over Prior Lake at BHS. The JV Black team traveled to Minnetonka, and dropped a 2-5 decision.

Panthers Beat Blaze
The BHS varsity tennis team fell at Lakeville North by a score of 2-5. The Blaze recorded victories at #1 and #2 doubles. The loss drops the Blaze to 4-5 on the season.
The JV Gold squad beat the Panthers at BHS by a score of 5-2, improving their record to 4-5.
The JV Black team was rained out (again) on Monday, but will travel to Prior Lake on Wednesday.

Blaze Finish 7th at Century Invitational
The Blaze varsity tennis team joined a number of the state's top teams at the Rochester Century Invitational Tournament, finishing in 7th place. Sutton Strander and Mac Donohue teamed up to lead the Blaze with two points, while the team of Jack and Sam Bardwell, and the team of Ben Waters and Jack Lindsey also contributed to the scoring in doubles competition. In singles, Luke Haddorff and Tyler Haddorff recorded points for the Blaze.

#4 Cougars Conquer Blaze
The Burnsville boys varsity tennis team hosted #4-ranked Lakeville South on Thursday, and the Cougars lived up to their ranking, handing the Blaze their first home loss of the season by a score of 6-1.
The Burnsville JV Gold squad traveled to Lakeville South, and also came up short against the Cougars, 0-7.
The Burnsville JV Black team will host Lakeville South at Neill Park on Friday, hoping to first shake off their bad luck with the weather, and complete only their second match of the season.

Blaze Claim First Road Win at Stillwater
The Burnsville boys varsity tennis team earned its first victory away from home this season, with a 4-3 decision over the Stillwater Ponies on Monday. With the match tied 3-3, the pressure rested squarely on the shoulders of first-year varsity player Tyler Haddorff, and Tyler delivered the decisive fourth point with a 6-4, 7-6 victory. Sam Bardwell remained unbeaten in doubles play, this time teaming with Ben Waters for a three-set, comeback victory. The Blaze JV Gold team lost to Stillwater by a score of 2-5, dropping them to 3-3 on the season.

The varsity's road woes continued, with a 1-6 loss at the hands of Bloomington Jefferson on Friday. The loss drops the Blaze to 3-3 on the season. The JV Gold squad also lost to the Jaguars, by a score of 3-4.

The Burnsville boys varsity tennis team ran its home record to 3-0, improving to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the South Suburban Conference, with a 6-1 victory over Farmington on Thursday.

Lightning Strikes Blaze
The Burnsville boys varsity tennis team dropped to 2-2 on the season, falling 1-6 to the #9-ranked Eastview Lightning on a windy Tuesday afternoon. The junior varsity squads fared a bit better, with the JV Gold team beating Eastview 4-3 at Burnsville, while the JV Black team earned a 5-2 victory at Bloomington Jefferson.

Blaze Beat Orioles
The Blaze boys varsity tennis team notched its second home victory of the season, defeating St. Louis Park at BHS by a score of 4-3. The JV Gold squad also topped the Orioles in St. Louis Park, winning 7-0.

Wildcats Claw Past Blaze
The Boys Varsity tennis team traveled to Eagan on Thursday, while the JV Gold team hosted the Wildcats at BHS. Both Blaze teams fell by identical 2-5 scores, dropping each of them to 1-1 on the young season.
Tyler Haddorff improved his varsity singles record to 2-0, while Shane Kerwin and Sam Bardwell both moved to 2-0 in doubles play.

Blaze Win Opener!
The Burnsville Varsity tennis team opened the 2017 season in style, with a 4-3 victory over Rosemount at the Burnsville High School courts.
The Burnsville JV Gold team also triumphed, traveling to Rosemount and defeating the Irish, 7-0.
