This course will address a wide variety of topics and experiences to help you delve into the professional world of teaching. In this online concurrent enrollment class, we will reflect on the history of the field of education and examine pressing issues in today’s public schools, particularly issues of equity and social justice. You will learn about what makes an effective teacher and how to develop and implement a great lesson. There will also be an opportunity to work in a classroom, experiencing what it’s like to be a teacher today. Course is online with cohort synchronous sessions approximately every two or three weeks.

During online registration, students can request the specific hour they want as an open hour. The request may not be granted, it is contingent on other course requests and conflicts.
Note: If a student is at risk of academic failure of 1 or more credits, they will lose the privilege of an Open Hour and be placed in a Study Center until all course grades are improved to passing.
