There are a variety of ways to get extra help with a class.
Talk with your teacher, often times they are available before and after school
Check out your teachers WAAG and Google Classroom for additional resources
Sign up for a WIN session with your teacher
Sign up for a WIN session with a peer tutor
Set up study groups with friends or others in your class
Meet with your counselor to discuss other support options
Each college and/or scholarship application will specify if a letter of recommendation is required or recommended. Checking college and scholarship websites, or talking with admissions counselors can be helpful in determining if this is needed. Often times, no letter of recommendation is needed.
*Recommendation letters can be a valuable way for colleges to learn additional information about a student that isn't already included in their original application.
If a recommendation letter is required, follow these steps:
Research the required documents for the application. How many, if any, letters do you need?
Ask your teacher, counselor, coach, etc., if they would be a recommender! It's important to ask a non-family member who knows you best and can highlight your strengths.
If they agree, fill out the Letter of Recommendation Request Form and share it with your letter writer.
Show your appreciation- Send a thank you letter!
A Pass Request Form will be available at the end of the semester from your counselor. Plan to meet with your counselor to discuss the implications of changing a grade to a P.
Please be aware of the following information when considering this option:
a "P" grade includes grades A to D-
"P" Grade does not affect semester or cumulative GPA, credit is attained
Does a "P" Grade look bad?
While a "P" Grade won't harm your GPA, please be aware that some colleges may want additional information to help them understand why there is a "P" on your transcript instead of a letter grade
Students have the option to take up to 2 classes per year as a "P", not to exceed 5 total throughout their High School career
These 2 classes can be elective or required core courses
"P" Grade(s) chosen Spring 2020 or during the 2020-2021 school year DO NOT count towards the 5 total, due to the pandemic and distance learning situation
A grade of "F" or grades awarded from other institutions CANNOT be changed to a "P", prior grades cannot be changed either as that deadline has passed
A "P" Grade cannot be reversed once it has been chosen
A "P" Grade requires written permission from parent and counselor
Check out our PSEO website for all the information you need to know, but also plan to attend our PSEO night in February.
If you are enrolled in a district online course, a blended class at Chaska High School, a course at Chanhassen High School, a course at Southwest Metro CO-OP, a course from Northern Star Online, a PSEO course, Senior Study Hall, and/or employment, you must fill this out to have permission to leave Chaska High School during that designated class period(s). IF YOU ARE FULL TIME PSEO YOU DO NOT NEED TO FILL THIS OUT.
Once this application is filled out we will reach out to receive parent confirmation. You will be required to have your student id card to leave the building. You will scan your id card in the purple office (Door #23) when leaving each day, unless a parent/guardian is picking you up, then you must scan your id in the green security office (Door #1).

9th graders are on first lunch IF their period 4 class is in the first column; otherwise, they are on second lunch.
ALL 10th - 12th graders will have second, third or fourth lunch based on their period 5 class per the schedule.
Contact your counselor and we would be happy to try and help you find the answer, or connect you with someone who does!
