Practices: Athletes need to show up to practice on time, ready to start at the posted time. If you are going to be late or miss practice, communicate with your coaches via SportsYou. Practice is a time to get better and perfect our running craft. The expectation is to follow the practice protocols at all times. Communication is necessary if you are unable to fully practice.
Races/Meets: Cell phones should be put away at all races/meet prior to racing. This should be a time to rest, visualize your race, walk the course, stretch and get ready to race. You should not be going to other teams tents or wondering around the course prior to your race. Be with your team and prepare for a successful meet.
Warm ups and Cool Downs are mandatory at races. warm ups should be at least 15 minutes of light jogging with your team followed by mobility, foam rolling, etc. Warm ups should begin 50 minutes prior to your race. Cool downs consist of 15 minutes of light jogging with your team.
On the line - you need to be on the start line with your team 15 minutes prior to your race. You will do active drills to get race ready followed by a couple strides.
Equipment
Active, comfortable clothes are necessary for successful running. Shirts must be worn at all times while inside.
Shoes - comfortable running shoes. Visit TC Running in Eden Prairie or The Lakes Running Company in Excelsior to get fitted for the best running shoes. Running spikes are a nice addition to races. Running spikes are highly encouraged for all athletes for races.
Hydration and Nutrition
Bring a water bottle to practice and school. Fill it up throughout the day.
Food is Fuel. What you put in, you get out. Eat a variety of whole foods that your stomach agrees with. Athletes need more calories and nutrition than non-athletes.
