The 2023-24 session has officially begun for the Christa McAuliffe Math Team.

The math team will be competing in the AMC 8 and MATHCOUNTS competitions. 

AMC 8 is the first step in a series of national  competitions leading to the International Math Olympiad in high school. AMC 8 will take place in January 2024.

MATHCOUNTS is a national live-person competition where teams from different schools compete together. Our team will first compete in the Brooklyn Chapter competition in February 2024. If our team is successful, they will advance to the state competition in upstate New York. 

The Math Team is an afterschool activity run under the auspices of the NIA.

The Math Team is always seeking new members.  6th, 7th and 8th graders are equally welcome. In fact, the sooner you start training, the more likely you will succeed in the competitions. It's a great opportunity to make friends who share your passion for problem-solving and get a head start on high school mathematics.
