KIS believes that in order to prepare students for a 21st Century environment, it is essential to focus on the fundamental skill of typing. It is recommended that students practice their typing skills for 5 to 10 minutes at least 3 times a week. Short, frequent sessions are more effective than longer, infrequent ones.Â
To help our students develop their typing skills, KIS has purchased student licenses for Typing Club for all students in Years 3-6. Students will have access at school and at home.
Although speed is measured objectively, its evaluation is much more subjective. What is a good target to aim for? It is difficult to say. Even the scientific literature is divided on the question.
The right speed target depends on your age and your end goal. The chart on the right may help you set an appropriate target for this year.
