Tool 1

🔨Tool #1 Brain Pop Jr

  • I use this as an activator or as extra knowledge.

  • I use this tool by showing the videos to my class as whole group. I can assign it to my classroom and the students view it virtually. They can take the quiz at the end of the video to test themselves on what they learned from the video.

  • I look for videos on BrainPopJr that pertain to the lesson or concept I am teaching. I use BrainPopJr at least once a week.

  • BrainPopJr has videos that teach lessons in all four subject areas as well as Arts and Technology and Health.

  • My students love to do the quiz at the end of each BrainPopJr video. They enjoy watching videos and they like the robot character, Moby.

Tool 2

🔨Tool #2 Starfall

  • We use this site for our daily calendar.

  • The leader of the day goes to the board and leads the class in making the calendar for the day. Students can click the link or go to the site and use the calendar.

  • I let the students be "in charge" of the calendar. It gives them practice with saying the days of the week and numbers from 1-30.

  • My students are "teaching" the days of the week to the other students, they are engaged in learning the calendar when they are in charge of the calendar. They are learning the days of the week and the months of the year. They are also learning to recognize the names of the weeks and the months.

Starfall Calendar

The calendar is interactive. The students can place special days, such as birthdays and if someone lost a tooth, on the calendar.

Tool 3

🔨Tool #3 AbcYa.com

  • This site has a lot of games that students enjoy. The games teach skills as well as being fun.

  • I have used the interactive 100 chart to count. The students use the chart to count by ones, count by twos, fives and tens. They also use the chart to add and subtract. The chart has color options. The students can change the number blocks to different colors as they count or help them to keep track as they add or subtract.

  • I use this tool to help students learn to count. I also pull it on the whiteboard and students practice making patterns. For instance, they can play the Fuzz Bug games under teacher supervision so we can help guide them when they get frustrated.

  • My students can practice counting by ones, twos, five, etc.

Fuzz Bugs Pattern Game

Students like to practice making patterns with the Fuzz Bugs.

Interactive Number Chart

The students can use this number chart to count by 2s, 5s, 10s. They can use it to add or subtract. They can click on a color to color code for any way they want to use the chart.

Tool 4

🔨Tool #4 Google Slides

  • I use this tool to make slides that can be used to show pictures to the students to help them learn visually.

  • I can use this tool to show concepts through pictures in the classroom or I can assign the slides in the Google classroom.

  • To support reading, slides can include pictures to help understanding. I use pictures a lot. Google slides are a good way to show concepts in pictures.

  • If students have a difficult time reading, they can learn concepts through pictures. It is another way instead of talking all the time.

Tool 5

🔨Tool #5 Epic

  • Epic is a website with books students can read. Some of the books have quizzes at the end.

  • The books can be assigned to students to read in class or through Google classroom.

  • I use this tool as a read aloud and to help teach content in ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science. I read at least 3 books a week all across the subject areas.

  • Some of the books have a "Read To" feature. This helps those who cannot read be able to "read" the book. The books have pictures that help the students comprehend the content.

Epic Book

One of my students watching as an Epic book is read aloud to the class.

Epic Books capture the students' attention with pictures instead of just words.
