EdTech Toolbox

Tool 1

Tool #1 Desmos

Desmos is an online calculator with multiple functions including a graphing calculator.

Desmos is a great resource for in person and/or virtual use due to its use as a website or phone app.

I use Desmos throughout the course of instruction as a teaching tool as well as a calculator.

Students are able to quickly make calculations or graph functions whether in the classroom on a chromebook or at home on their PC or phone.

Desmos Scientifc Calculator being used to solve equations. Same calculator as used on EOCT!

Tool 2

🔨Tool #2 MathPapa

MathPapa is a website or phone app used to perform algebraic operations such as simplifying radicals or solving equations.

MathPapa can be used in person or virtually to perform algebraic operations.

We use MathPapa in class as a supplement to Desmos.

Students can use MathPapa as a tool to check themselves in solving equations or simplifying algebraic expressions.

Math papa will show step by step how to solve problems. Includes more types. of problems that Desmos will not solve.

Provides different ways of solving problems.

Will provide a link to a lesson teaching you how to solve each problem.

Tool 3

🔨Tool #3 Kami

Kami is an online program that links to Google Drive and is used to annotate over documents such as PDF files.

Kami can be used virtually to annotate over files, which can then be uploaded to Google Classroom as a completed assignment.

I use Kami to annotate over a PDF file of my notes, which I then upload to Google Classroom for students to review later if necessary.

Students are able to use Kami to complete assignments/homework virtually, if they are out of school for some reason.

After writing on documents while teaching, you can take a multipage document and split it out page by page to be able to put specific pages wherever you need to so students do not have to scroll to find it.

Easily write on documents while teaching or grading assignments to send back to them virtually so they can see your notes or marks.

We offer a digital copy where they can write on it or type on it this way if they lose their hard copy or if we have to go virtual, they have another option for notes and homework.

Tool 4

🔨Tool #4 Blooket

  • An exciting new take on the modern classroom review game.

  • We can use this in class to review, it can be posted on classroom for review at home or we can play live virtually if we were all at home. This can be played on any device that has internet access.

  • We use this tool when students are finished with classwork in order to use the extra time in a better way. We also use this to study/review for test and quizzes as well as just review over a skill or lesson.

  • This is a good variation because most review games are geared toward the competition of getting the most right. While Blooket does have room for that, it also allows those that haven't mastered a skill or are slower answering questions a chance to be competitive because of some of the game features like swapping points with anyone after getting a question right. It keeps those that struggle or are slower workers involved because they can still be competitive.

There are all kinds of different game play mode to keep reviewing fun and entertaining.

There are premade quizzes or teachers can customize and make their own quiz for their own review.

If you wanted to use it as a grade or bonus points, you can see a class average on the questions or you can see individual students percentages.

Tool 5

🔨Tool #5 Google Form

  • This is a tool for assessment whether it is formal or informal. Also can be used for survey purposes or just a general way to collect information. Good for instant grading and feedback to the students right after they finish if you wish or that information can be held until you are ready for them to see it.

  • This tool can be emailed individually or assigned to the google classroom. Either way the student will have access to it anywhere they have internet access.

  • We use this for every test and quiz we give in all classes pretty much. We have also used it for survey purposes when we needed to collect information on who had access to a computer and who had access to internet when we were going virtual.

  • When using this tool for practice, students can do a review or practice assignment and get instant feedback as far as a grade or just being able to see what they got right, what they got wrong and reviewing what they have missed. This can be allowed to take multiple times if you need them to. This assist in their learning. This also allows them access to the test , if allowed, at different times of the day or only during certain times of the day and since it is on the internet, they can access it from anywhere.

Can be used in many different ways as you see. Test, sign-ups, scheduling, ticket out the door. So many options

Can be created in different ways for ease or difficulty. Fill in the blank, multiple choice, check boxes, drop down box. The list go on and on.

Data can be presented in different ways. Can be used for individual or can have graphs based off total of all that completed or individual and individual questions.
