Family Parent Engagement
Purpose
The goal of the Irwin County School Systems’ Parent & Family Engagement Program is to increase student achievement by engaging and empowering parents, families, and other stakeholders, to become actively involved in their children’s education across all grade levels.
Students with involved parents are more likely to have higher grades and test scores, attend school regularly, have better social skills, show improved behavior, and adapt well to school.
Parent & Family Engagement at home can include activities such as discussions about school, helping with homework, and reading with children. Engagement at school may include parents & family volunteering in the classroom, attending workshops or attending school events, communicating with classroom teachers about academic progress, registering for the PowerSchool Parent Portal and frequently accessing the portal to check grades, missing assignments, and attendance.
We look forward to a wonderful 2021-2022 school year and encourage our parents, families and other stakeholders, to plug-in and become engaged in their student’s education as we all partner together to increase student achievement.
