TOOL #1 - GIMKIT

  • Gimkit is a quiz application that allows students to practice any skill that they have learned in class, while allowing them to also compete one on one, in team settings, or against the clock as a group.

  • In my class, I use Gimkit in several different ways. When practicing multiplication and division fluency, students have to beat the clock in a game of the floor is lava. Each class competes against the other to answer their facts correctly and quickly in order to increase the number of blocks and outpace the lava that increases in speed the more time passes. I also use the Jeopardy function to all students to pick categories to review word problems based on the standard that they are currently working. There are around 15 to 20 different kinds of games that can be played, including a spin on the popular Among Us video game.

  • Gimkit allows teachers to make their own quizzes or choose from a vast library of premade quizzes that can used to fit our needs.
