Quizizz is a quiz-show style assessment that can help students recall facts and prepare for traditional tests with interactive lessons to encourage more in-depth learning.
I use Quizizz to engage my students after reading short stories, poems and novels in class to check their comprehension. Quizizz can also be used to check their achievement before, during and after learning a new concept.
I use Quizizz everyday, it could be an activator, quiz, test, or Ticket out the Door. My students love this because it allows them to compete against each other and help them understand and comprehend what we are learning in class. Quizizz is also an easy tool to use for Virtual learning, I just send the code through my google classroom and have my students log on. Virtually, I am still able to see their progress and collect the data I need.
I love this tool because it grades the quizzes automatically and shows me what questions the students have missed. This allows me to go back and redo a mini lesson if needed. I also don't have to recreate the wheel, I can easily do a search on the quizziz website and look for what I need. I can edit and omit or add any questions to make this fit my and my students needs.
YouTube is a video sharing social media site.
I use YouTube in two different ways in my classroom. To help enhance skills after I have taught them and for differentiated learning when we are reading short stories and novels. Some of my students have a difficult time following along when reading. By using YouTube, I am able to play the audio version of the short stories and/or chapters we are reading in class. I am also able to share this on my google classroom, the students can also log on at home and listen. This is another tool that is beneficial for Virtual learning.
I use YouTube several times a week. When reading it gives the students a break from reading and it allows us to move along a little faster to complete chapters and short stories.
YouTube is a great tool to engage my students because when enhancing student learning, it allows me to use music and humor and most videos are short and to the point.
Google Docs allows me to create and edit documents for my students and then share them directly to my google classroom.
I use google docs for classroom assignments, graphic organizers, and my Daily Agenda. I love this tool because it helps my students stay caught up if they're out; and it allows me to check my student's progress, when they have completed, and turned assignments in. This tool also lets me set an assigned time for an assignment to start and be due.
I use google docs everyday to post my Daily Agenda and standards we are learning. I also use it to post graphic organizers for my students that struggle with higher level vocabulary.
This tool allows me to post assignments and information individually or to my whole class. If I know a student is struggling or I am following an IEP accommodation I can post information to that student individually.
Google Slides allows me to create presentations for my students to help introduce concepts. This tool is great because I can add information as we move through the standard or novel/short story.
I use this tool when I am starting a standard to introduce vocabulary and when starting a novel or short story to introduce the characters and plot diagram. By using google slides I can also easily share the information to my google classroom for my students to look at if they're absent if we are on virtual learning or need a refresher before a test.
I use this tool in two different ways. I will have my students work in collaborative groups and share the presentation on my google classroom having my students answer questions. Or, I will present the information during whole group and we will have a class discussion.
USA Test Prep is a standards aligned tool that can be used for testing or standards practicing purposes.
Every day I do a Bellringer that focuses on grammar or the standard we are learning. We work on these Tuesday-Friday. On Monday, I test my students on the concepts we worked on with the Bellringers. This tool is great because it grades the students work for me and allows me to track data on what concepts they have mastered or which ones we need to work on.
I also like to use this tool because I can change up how I ask questions, I can give multiple choice or open ended and I can give them a range of beginner, random or advanced questions.
My students like to use USA Test Prep too because it will give them the correct answer if they missed a question and I can add more than one chance to get a higher grade.
This tool is also great for virtual learning because I can schedule the assignment for a specific date and the students just need to log on and go to work.
