Jamboard is similar to a physical sticky note that students would place on the table or door; however, it is used in a virtual sense during discussion to quickly check for students' understanding and give feedback.
This is a great source for students virtually or in person because of the accessibility to post in Google Classroom so students can all participate in the discussion or respond to questions.
I use Jamboard as a quick reference for a student's understanding or a possible TOTD (Ticket-Out-The-Door).
This tool allows students to respond to a quick prompt or question pertaining to the standard covered in class or to check for understanding of material covered.
Google Docs is a tool that allows the students to create a variety of documents. These can be placed in a central location for students to easily find the assignments the teacher has posted.
This tool gives the educator a way to distribute to each student individually and for students to obtain feedback on writing. This tool is great for students who were not able to be in the school building and is accessible through the student's Google Classroom.
I used this tool on a weekly basis to provide the proper assignments to my students. This was used for writings, outlines, written anchor charts, or other documents that students will need for information.
This tool is very useful for students during writing assignments. I love that I was able to provide live feedback to my students on their assignments. This engages the students because the students are able to see my corrections or feedback and they can go ahead for changes instead of waiting on the teacher.
Study Island is a tool that students are able to use to reinforce the standards within the grade levels with questions pertaining to standards. These standards can be used to create an assessment (formative or summative) to gauge what the students have maintained.
Study Island tool can be used both in person and virtually because the teacher is able to assign each student or group of students the standards that need to be reinforced.
I use this tool to provide remediation to students after a benchmark so that they are able to see the material or standards that they may have missed (every Friday).
Study Island engages my students by allowing a small group discussion over the standards assigned for remediation that week and for students to work on the standards.
Pear Deck is a Google Slides tool that allows the information to be interactive with the students and provides easier presentation of the various standards in whole group setting while using the Interactive Board.
Pear Deck is used in the classroom and virtually due to the accessibility to the student's Google account. Students who have Google can access the Pear Deck in their Google Classroom. The teacher can place it on "Student-Pace" mode which allows each student to work at their own pace.
I used Pear Deck within the classroom when presenting new information or standards. I would present the information to the entire classroom and create discussions over the stories shared from the I-Ready materials.
The students are able to stay engaged by providing answers to questions and prompts within the presentation. The students can utilize the tool setting and underline, draw, or type responses. I can further display answers on the board or secretly to complete a quick formal assessment of the students' responses.
GimKit is a live learning game show that is presented within the classroom setting for all students to participate in individually. It is a tool that allows students to collaborate and obtain strategies to win the game. General description of the tool and functionality.
This tool is used to perform in person or virtually because each student is able to participate within the game setting by answering the questions during the allotted time-frame as a group of individually. This tool can be assigned to students at home if necessary or they can compete on their own which comes as flashcards.
I used this tool based on the different standards taught for students to collaborate and answer questions pertaining to standards. If the student answers correctly, then they are able to buy "money" to assist them in winning the game. This game can be played individually, small group, or whole class.
GimKit engages the students by collaborating to find several strategies in this fast-paced setting and the teacher can download the student report to see how the students did on their questions.
