History

Founded in 2018 by Rishit Gupta, Zach Mizrachi, Sebastian Ramos-Roux, and a group of other passionate high schoolers, the team successfully built a robot and participated in the Hudson Valley Regionals competition during the 2019 season. The team was faced by seemingly impossible challenges, such as limited funds, a basement workspace, a mentor who had to commute from a far distance away, and a variety of other challenges. Despite this, the team persisted and was able to build a robot that drove, picked up disks, and lifted itself up 2 feet on pneumatic legs (when everything went right in practice runs). We attended the Hudson Valley Regional competition at Rockland Community College and had an amazing time, meeting lots of other kids with interests in robotics and having our robot face off in the arena.

With a new association with Irvington High School in 2019, a significant uptick in interest, and a new mentor, we were able to improve and expand our team. By opening new departments, we hoped to increase our team’s community outreach and volunteer opportunities. With greater experience, our technical skills improved and we hoped for even greater success during 2020 season, though unfortunately, that was not yet able to come to fruition, as the COVID-19 pandemic struck.

After the global pandemic canceled the 2020 FRC, the team continued, meeting online and eventually in person, following social distancing protocol. We kept innovating upon the robot from the previous year until it was suited for the 2021 FRC, a continuation of the 2020 competition, adapted for the pandemic.

Our robot was recorded completing various tasks for the competition, such as driving and shooting foam balls at a target from various distances. We also competed in the Innovation and Game Design challenges, managing to win for Game Design.

In 2022 we competed in the First Robotics SBPLI Long Island Regional 2.
