I've posted the first lessons for you to do at home! ENJOY! :) I hope you have as much fun doing them as I did writing them and creating the examples.
Here's some pictures I took at the district art show at Irving Art Center. I tried to get as many of the artworks in the pictures as possible, but I'm sorry if I missed getting a good picture of yours. Irving Art Center is currently closed for awhile just like the school. When they open back up, I'll go up there and take down your artworks to return them to you. Until then, enjoy these pictures of your awesome work. Be sure to check this page often, and scroll down for the newest information loaded by me. If you need to get a hold of me or even to just show me your artworks, email me at kblack@irvingisd.net. Look forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon!
Love you guys!

I set up a little work space to write online lessons for you guys here at home. I have an art studio at my house since my husband is also an artist and an art teacher. Here is the space I set up for me to teach you guys art from my home!
One other thing, if you were chosen by me to be in the Texas Elementary Art Meet statewide competition, I'm sad to announce that it has been cancelled for this school year. It breaks my heart too. We will continue to participate in the competition each year, and if you are moving on to middle school, the competition is called Jr. Vase. The high school competition is called VASE. It's a great opportunity to compete if you end up taking art classes in high school or middle school. I'm one of the judges for the high school competition each year. Once again, I'm sorry to deliver that news, but I'm super proud of you guys.
One of my friends sent me this cool video of our art show today! It was created by the Irving Cable Television Network. Watch for some awesome Horned Frogs artwork and even some of our Horned Frogs in person! :) Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwHSZQCs0UI
Remember Irving Art Center is closed, but they are still having their JumpstART Stories and Art, a virtual edition, on Thursday April 2nd at 8 a.m. These happen on the first Thursday of every month with a storytime and a craft all presented online. At this time, they are planning on having a Sunday Funday in a 'to go' addition where you can pick up a take-home craft project on on Sunday April 19th. If shelter-in-place restrictions are still in place, they will have a craft demonstration video presented online. Visit their website for more information on these fun programs at https://www.irvingartscenter.com/
Here is video I put together for you guys! Enjoy! I miss you guys! Even if the video looks like it's spinning if you click on the square with the arrow, it'll take you to my video.
Check out this virtual drawing event being held by The Modern Museum of Fort Worth this Sunday April 2nd from 2-3 p.m. Draw along with artists at the museum! Check out these details!
* This is a virtual event.*
The Modern’s Drawing from the Collection Children is going online! Our artist instructors are busy designing and recording videos that will take participants through informal drawing exercises in relation to works in the collection and special exhibition "Mark Bradford: End Papers."
Learn with local artists as they lead informal studio classes via instructional videos. Each project is designed in relation to works in the Modern’s galleries and keeps in mind what creative materials families might already have at home. Two videos will be available, one designed for children ages 4 to 8 and one for children ages 9 to 12.
The April 5 program for children ages 4-8 will be led by artist Ryan Goolsby. Ryan Goolsby has a BFA in photography from the University of North Texas and an MFA in sculpture from Texas Christian University. He is based in Dallas and is represented by Liliana Bloch Gallery.
Artist Shelby David Meir will lead the April 5 program for children ages 9 to 12. Shelby David Meier produces object-oriented meditations on the comedy found in the mundane. Based in Dallas, he has most recently shown work in SPRINGBREAK Art Show NY 2020.
