Safety & Security Updates 

As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, Irving High School has experienced a strong and successful start. Our students and staff have returned with enthusiasm, and we remain committed to providing a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive. Through proactive safety measures, staff training, strong relationships, and clear expectations, we are working together to ensure every student feels welcomed, connected, and prepared for success. We appreciate the partnership of our students, families, and staff as we continue to make safety and student well-being a top priority.

Safety & Security Updates

• Campus doors open Monday–Friday at 8:00 a.m.

• Breakfast is served from 8:00–8:45 a.m.

• Students are expected to follow the established Bell Schedule.

• Dismissal begins at 4:15 p.m.

• Students are expected to adhere to Cell Phone/Yondr Pouch Expectations.

• Exterior doors remain secured throughout the school day.

• All visitors must check in through the front office and present a valid ID.

• Students are expected to wear and display their school ID daily.

• Emergency drills, including fire, lockdown, and shelter-in-place drills, are conducted throughout the year to ensure preparedness. Fire drills are conducted monthly beginning in August.

• Students are encouraged to report any safety concerns to a teacher, counselor, or administrator immediately.

• For everyone's safety, please do not open exterior doors for others. All visitors must enter through the main entrance.

Safety & Security Action Items – September 2026

IHS Monthly Safety Meeting: The Irving High School Monthly Safety Meeting was held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. The following safety and security priorities were discussed:

• • Parking Lot Initiative: Campus administrators and staff will continue to monitor student parking areas to promote safe driving practices, appropriate parking procedures, and compliance with campus expectations. Increased visibility and supervision will help support a safe and orderly arrival and dismissal process.

  • Positive Referrals Home: Staff are encouraged to recognize students who demonstrate positive behavior, leadership, academic achievement, and good citizenship by submitting positive referrals and communicating these successes with families. Celebrating positive student behaviors helps strengthen relationships and promote a positive campus culture.

  • Cell Phone Plan: Beginning September 21, 2026, the campus will implement additional procedures to reinforce cell phone expectations. Students who do not comply with campus expectations may have devices collected and turned in according to established campus procedures. Student needs and applicable supports, including 504 considerations when appropriate, will continue to be addressed through established processes.

  • Drug Detection K-9 Visits: Monthly drug detection K-9 visits will be conducted as a proactive safety measure to support a safe and drug-free learning environment. These visits are part of the campus’s ongoing efforts to reinforce safety expectations, deter prohibited items, and maintain a secure campus.
