Who We Are

I am so excited to be beginning my eigth year here at Jack E. Singley Academy.  I am the instructor for Theatre I - IV, Theatre Production I - III & Technical Theatre II.  This season I am excited to work together with everyone as we bring you an exciting season.

My experience in theatre began at 4 when my mom took me to a local audition for a movie and I got the part.  From there I began performing on stage at age 7 and never looked back.  Some of my favorite roles include parts in  1940's Radio Hour,  A Chorus Line,  Cabaret,  and The Secret Garden.  I have also worked in non-profit as an Education Director and I spent 10 years as a Bowling Center Manager where I started and coached HS bowling teams to the state competition.

I am looking forward to getting to know each and everyone of you this year as you start (or continue) on your journey with Academy Theatre.  I can't wait to show you what is in store.

Corey Cox 

I am excited to start my 9th year at the Academy.  I am really looking forward to all that we have planned!

I spent 20 years as a professional stagehand doing Broadway, rock & roll tours, and a brief stint in the circus.  I am a graduate of the University North Carolina School of the Arts, and a retired IATSE member.  Some of my favorite positions were with the Washington National Opera Tour (to Japan), memorable summers in New England doing Summer Stock, and those events that gave me the opportunity to meet five US presidents.  In 2009 I moved to Texas, and received my teaching certification from the University of Texas at Arlington.

I love that my position with the district allows me to interact with students and teachers across many schools.  I enjoy spending time both in and out of the classroom sharing my passion for theatre with those I meet.
