Finding Nemo Costumes
Although our characters are sea creatures in this show, please DO NOT wear a fish costume. Instead, we are using regular human clothes to show the characters’ personalities. How would that character dress if they were a person?
Mrs. Walker will provide some props/costume pieces for you, but families are responsible for the parts listed below.
You do NOT need to spend a lot of money on costumes! Please use clothing you already have at home or can borrow from a friend or family member.
Please make sure costume pieces are easy to take on and off over their base “Sea Chorus” blue outfits. Thank you!
Please mark your pieces with names, so they all get returned to the right families.
Please have your costume ready to bring to school on February 28th for our dress rehearsal. Thank you!
Ideas for families:
Nemo
Brynlee Rynearson
(Understudy: Millie Beesley)
(Nemo has some down time when she could be part of the Sea Chorus.)
Orange and white “kid” outfit, might include a striped t-shirt with shorts, with an orange baseball cap. Our Nemo is a girl, so an orange striped dress with orange bows in her hair would be great too. Your choice! One of the sleeves might be cut or rolled to represent the “lucky fin.”
Marlin
Harper Hooper
(Understudy: Brynlee Bodily)
Orange and white “dad” outfit, for example button-up shirt, tie, sweater vest, khaki pants, etc
Dory
Alexa Oliver
(Understudy: M’Lee Davis)
Bright blue and yellow outfit with a twirly skirt, or a pair of bright blue overalls with bright yellow patches. Her hairstyle would probably be unique and include fun accessories. Dory’s scales are mostly blue in the movie, but the more yellow you can wear, the better; we want Dory to stand out from the blue chorus.
Ensemble/Sea Chorus
EVERYONE except Marlin/Dory/possibly Nemo
Long-sleeved royal blue shirt
Long blue pants, royal blue or dark blue (jeans are okay)
Pelicans
Korlee Wood, Jade Pryor, Sterling Slade, Ashlyn Jimenez
White long-sleeved jacket to wear over your Sea Chorus blue, and a newsie cap to represent your beak.
Nemo’s schoolmates, their parents, and the tank gang
Emily Hugie, Shiloh Herring, Kya Nicholes, Hayzlee Quintanilla, Brynlee Bodily, Briggs Barnes, Trevor Spencer, Jackson Stephens, Darrel Jessop, Lydia Wainwright, Cooper Anderson
Regular human clothes with hints towards the character’s species and/or personality. These costume pieces should be easy to slip on and off over the Sea Chorus base blues.
Examples: Pearl is a pink octopus in the movie, so she might wear a pink dress with a twirly skirt. Tad is a self-proclaimed “obnoxious” fish; he might wear really loud/bright colors and a backwards baseball cap.
Gill is a mysterious rebel, maybe she would wear a leather jacket with a torn-off sleeve to show her “lucky fin” like Nemo. Maybe Bubbles’ hair is in bubble braids. Peach shouldn’t be in a starfish outfit, but could have a pink dress with spots or stars to indicate “starfish” more subtly.
Sharks
All except Marlin, Dory, and the Fish “Friends” (below)
(All but Bruce) Gray or black “business wear” top, like a suit coat or a vest. It’s okay if these are oversized, for example Dad’s old suit: the sharks are supposed to be big and scary!
Fish “Friends” at the sharks’ “party”
Ivy Miller, Melanie Barker, Eleanor Brewer, Millie Beesley, Charlotte Swann, Aurelia Jensen, Tim Schroeder, Easton Veater, Sagan Sesma, Malakai Memmott, Genesis Angel, Darrel Jessop, Macy Monroe, Sophia Luttio, Katelyn Haderlie
A bright-colored solid shirt, but not yellow or orange. Lime green, light blue, pink, etc are all great!
Crush/Squirt
Dean Gillies, Ivy Miller
Crush: Solid yellow beanie
Squirt: Solid pink beanie
Professor Ray
Aubrey Schenk
Silver/gray teacher clothes (can be the same gray vest/coat as your shark outfit) and maybe some really thick-framed Harry Potter-style glasses
Seagulls
Malakai Memmott, Tayizlee Metcalf, Avree Stephenson, Gwen Summy, Charlotte Swann, Keith Swensen, McKinlee Webster, Kinlee Wendt
Solid white t-shirts
Grumpy Crabs
Athina Bongolan, Eleanor Brewer, Mikayla (Mika) Haller, Presley Matthews
Solid red t-shirts
(If your minor or featured chorus character is not mentioned, then Mrs. W is providing your pieces. Thank you!)
