Music Composition

Artist Statement: When I first saw this year’s theme, “I Belong!”, I thought about people from around the world who migrate in search of better opportunities, which I believe reflects the core of American diversity. As one of these seekers, I created my composition to show how immigrants succeed despite challenges, highlighting how those around them can make them feel they belong. My lyrics give a voice to these experiences, and in the piano accompaniment, I start in minor and gradually shift to major to enhance the emotion of belonging despite hardships.

Artist Statement: When I moved continents, I was 10, and it felt as if I did not belong to either of the country. I was trying to be practical and find ways to fit in my new country. This song reflects the struggle and the adventure that comes along, as I move towards my destiny
