About Ms. Zimmer

My name is JaNae Zimmer and I am very excited to be your child's first grade teacher! A born and raised resident of the North Country, I grew up in the village of Brownville and, later as a teenager, outside of Plessis. The beautiful St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands are four miles from my home!

I have two sons and two gorgeous granddaughters. My partner, Mr. Aznoe, and I also have a furry baby, "Hey Boy", who is a middle-aged orange and white striped tiger cat. We enjoy riding our motorcycles and visiting our families.

What are my other favorites?

• walking My favorite colors are green and purple.

• gardening & canning My favorite movies are comedies and Disney movies.

• quilting & sewing My favorite grade is...First Grade, of course!

• reading My favorite foods come from Italy. (Think pizza and gelato!)

• traveling My favorite sport is football.

I talk about my home life often and your child will hear lots of stories about my family life outside of school!

I graduated from Alexandria Central School, Jefferson Community College and SUNY Potsdam. I have been an elementary school teacher since 2000, serving as a Reading Specialist, and in third grade, Kindergarten as well as first grade classrooms in this district. Prior to that, I was a certified family day care provider. So, I have had lots and lots of experience watching and learning about how young children work and play and what concerns parents have when they entrust their child to another adult.
