My name is Jen Parham and I'm excited to be teaching Kindergarten at Evans Mills Primary! I am an Army wife and a mommy of two incredible daughters. My dog and cat are my children too! Working with children has always been a passion of mine, and I've worked with diverse children in a multitude of settings including camp, daycare centers, and the classroom, for over 25 years. Constant learning, especially in the area of early literacy, is another passion of mine. I've obtained a bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a Master of Science for Teachers. In addition to teaching and learning, I enjoy many hobbies including dancing, singing, playing the guitar, drawing, writing, crocheting, and cooking! This is going to be a great year and I'm thrilled to be an Indian River Warrior!
My philosophy is one of inclusiveness; being the whole teacher, ready and able to teach every child. My empathetic and responsive approach to teaching enables me to establish genuine relationships based on mutual respect, value, acceptance, and love. Students can only learn when they feel safe, accepted, and loved, and that's what I consistently strive for in my classroom. All children are "good" and every student wants to do well, and I will foster that through empowerment, encouragement, and (again) love!
