At the beginning of each day, all of clothespins are clipped to the “Ready to Learn” section. Then, during the day, students move their clothespins up or down based upon their behavior. Any student who has been asked to move his/her clothespin down a level or two has the opportunity to make better choices, improve behavior, and see his/her clothespin move to a better level. The strategy behind this chart is to give the student the opportunity to improve behavior and not to be stuck on one level all day long.
At the end of the day, each student will be responsible to report their behavior to their take-home folder. If the student was on “Teacher’s Choice,” I will write a quick explanation. Please check the take-home folder every night to see what level your child was on.
Please do not be upset if your child is not on "Awesome" or "Great Job". These are above our daily expectations and should be viewed as a celebration. If your child is on "Refocus", please do not be alarmed. This is a learning tool and your child is adjusting to a new class and new expectations. If there is a undesirable pattern being shown, I will contact you.
This behavior chart is used throughout the school and the expectations are consistent throughout the school day, regardless of the setting; bus, classroom, cafeteria, hallway, etc..
