The IEP is the cornerstone of the special education process for each student. It is the tool to document how ones student's special needs related to the disability will be met within the classroom. The IEP is a strategic planning document that should be changed to fit the students needs. An IEP identifies a students unique needs and how the school will address those needs.

What are consultant services?

Consultant teacher services support students with disabilities who are enrolled in the general education classroom setting. The intent of the consultant teacher services is to provide instructional support to students and teachers within the general education setting.

What is resource room?

Children with resource room usually receive 30-40 minutes of support to work on reading, writing, and/or math skills within a small group. Resource room services are provided outside of the students regular classroom.

504 fact sheet

504 plans are formal plans that schools develop to give kids with disabilities the support they need. That covers any condition that limits daily activities in a major way.
