Hello 1st grade friends!
I hope you are all home safe and happy. I am enjoying my family and the fresh Spring air. I thought you may like a fun math activity, so I came up with a scavenger hunt for you and your family. You can do this inside or outside, or both if you like. The following are objects you can use to find and count. You can include other objects too, or take off whatever ones you don't want to use.
windows
doors
pillows
light switches
pets
vehicles
stairs
people
books
feet
After counting objects try making different combinations to add together. Example: add the doors + pets=,
or stairs + feet=
Remember to put the bigger number in your head and count on.
If you would like to share your math totals with me, send me an email. I hope to hear about all the fun you had adding items from your scavenger hunt,

Hello 3rd grade friends!
I hope you are all home safe and happy. I am enjoying my family and the fresh Spring air. I thought you may like a fun math activity, so I came up with a scavenger hunt for you and your family. You can do this inside or outside, or both if you like. The following are objects you can use to find and count. You can include other objects too, or take off whatever ones you don't want to use.
windows
doors

light switches

vehicles
stairs
people
books
feet
After counting objects try making different combinations to add or subtract. Example: add the doors + pets=, or stairs + feet=
You could even challenge yourself and combine 3 or more digits! people+books+pillows=
Remember when adding put the bigger number in your head and count on. When subtracting be sure the greatest number is first.
The next activity is multiplying the objects together: feet X pets=, or
vehicles X people=
If you would like to share your math totals with me, send me an email. I hope to hear about all the fun you had adding/multiplying items from your scavenger hunt.
