During the first week of school, we, as a class, have discussed the following Classroom Rules and Consequences. These rules were made in order to create both a positive and safe learning environment.
Rules:
Follow directions and be safe.
Keep your hands, feet, and all objects to yourself.
Always use your manners.
Have all homework completed the following day, unless otherwise noted.
Raise your hand before speaking. Do not shout out and interrupt the teacher or classmates.
Be kind and fair to others. Treat others the way that you want to be treated.
Be honest and responsible!
If a student chooses to break a rule:
1st time: A verbal warning.
2nd time: 5 minute time out
3rd time: 10 minute time out
4th time: 20 minutes time out and a note home.
5th time: 20 minute time out. The student may be sent to another room/office for a time out and a phone call home.
Time out will be a loss of recess.
Severe Disruption:
The student will go directly to the Dean of Students for any behavior that is dangerous to himself/herself or others. These behaviors include: kicking, hitting, punching, throwing of objects or having a temper tantrum. There will be a phone call home and a loss of all recess for the day.
Good Behavior:
Students who have completed all of the required work for the week, and have behaved appropriately will be positively rewarded with one or more of the following: verbal praise, awards, prizes, extra free time, and special activities, (ex. movies on Friday).
