Who is this event for? Parent Voice Summit is for parents who have an active and positive role in guiding and influencing their children's lives. Parents will actively participate in discussions, workshops, and learn about advocacy efforts on child-related issues. The Summit provides a platform for those who want to have their voices heard. It means elevating community involvement and impacting systems change.
What is Parent Voice? "Parent Voice" typically refers to the collective voice or perspective of parents or caregivers, especially in the context of education, healthcare, policy-making, or community engagement. It emphasizes the importance of involving parents in decision-making processes that directly impact their children's lives.
The concept of Parent Voice recognizes that parents and caregivers possess valuable insights, experiences, and knowledge about their children's needs, strengths, and challenges. Including their perspectives in discussions and decision-making can lead to more informed and effective solutions. When Parent Voice is respected and valued, it can foster stronger relationships between parents, educators, healthcare providers, and community members, leading to better outcomes for children and families as a whole.
Should I bring my children with me? The Parent Voice Summit, including seating and food, is for registered parents/caregivers only. There is no on-site childcare. However, scholarships for childcare stipends may be available. Because the Summit is being held at the Galaxy Event Center, family members who are not attending may wish to enjoy time at Wahooz Family Fun Zone.
What is the cost of the Parent Voice Summit? Thanks to our generous sponsors and partners, the Summit is at no cost for parent attendees. Scholarships may also be available for travel, lodging, and childcare. *If you need lodging or travel assistance please fill out the scholarship form *
I’m attending from out of the Treasure Valley. What are the lodging options? We have compiled a list of nearby hotels, it can be found here. Each guest is responsible for reserving and paying for your own lodging. Participants who may need extra assistance may qualify for a scholarship for reimbursement.
Are meals included during the Summit? Meals are provided for registered parents and caregivers only. The Pre-Summit (09/29) is a four hour event that will include some light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. The Summit (09/30) will include: breakfast and lunch as well as some light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. *No outside food or beverages are allowed during the Summit*
What if I need transportation? For those traveling from outside of the area, reimbursement for mileage or airfare may be available through a scholarship. If you do not have a vehicle, Uber and Lyft vouchers may be available. There are no shuttles available between the airport and the hotels near the Summit. There are also no shuttles between the hotels and the Galaxy Event Center. Please inquire if this is something you may need.
Will interpreters be provided during the Summit? Interpreters can be arranged based on individual needs. If interpretation services are required, please indicate the need for accommodation by checking the designated box during registration and specifying the language for which interpretation is needed.
