ABOUT WVHS CHEERLEADING:
The Waubonsie Valley High School Cheerleading Program is built upon commitment, accountability, trust, consistency, and maintaining a growth mindset. Although our ultimate goal is to make each team competitive, we strive for our student-athletes to learn lifelong lessons in leadership, teamwork, dedication, and character-building. Cheerleaders will encourage and inspire not only sports teams, but the entire student body and represent Waubonsie Valley in a highly respectable manner. Cheerleaders will encourage positive sportsmanship, fellowship, and unity within our school community. Our goal is to build a program that not only competes at the highest level but is highly regarded in the areas of sportsmanship and academics. We strive to uphold the pride, tradition, and spirit of Waubonsie Valley High School through the unification of our student body, alumni, and fans.
SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT:
At Waubonsie Valley High School our mission is to foster students’ learning to its highest potential while providing diverse and challenging educational experiences that academically, socially, and emotionally shape our students into independent and productive members of society.
DURATION OF A SEASON:
Cheerleading begins with tryouts in early May and goes throughout the summer, through the fall football season, and continues in the winter competition/basketball season. There are separate tryouts for fall season and winter season. It is important to note that student-athletes are highly encouraged to join our program for all seasons; rather than just one season, to ensure overall growth in the area of Cheerleading.
