About the LMC
Welcome to Welch’s Library Media Center site. The LMC is a vibrant, active area of the school with a lot of learning occurring daily - whether in person or virtual. Thank you to volunteers who have dedicated their time to assist us in the LMC. In addition to circulating books, the LMC serves as an extension of the classroom. Our purpose is to reinforce and enrich classroom curriculum using a variety of media. Library lessons are scheduled at the point of need. Students are taught to check out their own materials. Our circulation system is Internet-based so students are able to do searches by title, author, keyword, subject, and series from any computer with Internet access. Students are allowed to check out materials as often as they wish. They may check out three items (except kindergarten) and keep them for a period of two weeks. We, in the LMC, work hard to instill a love of literature and learning in all students. We want the students to enjoy their time in the LMC and find it a fun, nurturing environment. My name is Lynn Domek and am pleased to be the Library Media Center Director at Welch. I have been in this position since 2006. Prior to Welch, I worked at the Naperville Public Library. Early in my career I worked at technology companies in California. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Northern Illinois University and my Masters of Library and Information Science from Dominican University. In 2010 I earned my National Board Teaching Certification. In 2016 I earned Reading and ESL Endorsements. I view myself as a lifelong learner, and hope to instill a self-motivated quest for knowledge in the students at Welch.
We are happy to have Denise Schalliol join us in 2021. Denise previously volunteered at Patterson Elementary.
