ILA/CBC Children's Choices 2018 Reading List

BATTLE OF THE BLUESTEMS Will you be at the Battle of the Bluestems this year? If you are in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade and have read at least 8 Bluestem books this year you can participate on a team at a Welch Battle of the Bluestems on March 5, 2019. If you have read all 20 books you can be a captain! Teams have a maximum of 3 players. Please see Mrs. Domek in the LMC if interested. The following parent permission form must be signed and returned anytime between January 8 - February 26: http://bit.ly/2L0NT2O. Top two teams will be invited to a district Battle of the Bluestems to be held at Graham Elementary school on March 12, 2019 at 5:00pm. The Kane County Cougars and Welch Elementary would like to offer your students the opportunity to participate in Ozzie’s Reading Club! Students who participate earn a free Cougars ticket, and hot dog! In addition to their free April or May ticket they’ll also receive a Golden Ticket entitling them to complimentary admission to ALL June-September games. The Kane County Cougars Ozzie Reading program begins in January. Students who read 15 minutes daily will receive a free ticket and food voucher to a Kane County Cougars game. The game date this year: April 15 (chorus will be singing the National Anthem) or May 26.

Summer Reading

The Naperville Public Library speaks to classes about their summer reading program. Attached is additional information. Links to other programs, how to access Lexia, and book lists are included.



CHICAGO WOLVES During the month of November, students had a choice to participate in the Chicago Wolves reading program. Students who read 15 minutes/day for the month of November and recorded their reading on the reading log were given a voucher for a free ticket to a Chicago Wolves hockey game.
