The next 2 weeks: November 12-20

3PA: We will read Sachiko Means Happiness. Students will be researching and sharing about what their names mean.

4PA: We are working our way through classic novel The Secret Garden. Chapters 1-7 focus on the setting and symbolism.

5PA: We will finish our story All Summer in a Day. We will be watching the movie this week that coincides with the story. The students are usually surprised by the movie.

During the week of Thanksgiving students will be SCAMERING a Turkey.

" The SCAMPER technique is an Idea Manipulation Tool to guide us in generating diverse ideas. Rather than thinking original ideas, this tool provokes us to gather ideas from divergent fields, manipulate and fuse them into our requirements.

SCAMPER is an acronym for Seven Techniques -

S-Substitute, C- Combine, A-Adapt, M-Modify/Magnify, P-Put it to some other use, E-Eliminate, R-Reverse or Rearrange"

Week of October 29- Nov. 2

Parents Teacher Conferences November 1 from 4:30-8.

What we will learn this week:

3rd Grade will continue their coming out of my shell narrative writing pieces and then create a visual of their shell.
4th Grade will begin the short story The Old Man and His Affectionate Son . Kids will begin using Paul's Reasoning Wheel to help them solve the dilemma in the story.
5th Grade will be participating in their 1st Socratic Seminar this week as well as putting together a disciplanary report for one of the characters in the story.

Family Flipgrid is due Friday Sept. 7

Curriculum Night is Sept 12 at 6pm for parents of students new to PA.

Week of February 19-23:

3PA: Olympic breakout edu & Olympic Stem Challenges

4PA: Continue WWII & Read Power of Light

5PA: Socratic Seminar and Ted Talks

PA Testing will begin next week so PA will be canceled for the week of Jan. 29-Feb. 2

This week: Jan. 22-26

3PA will begin reading and analyzing a story very familiar to us The Ugly Duckling.
4PA will begin and finish their Secret Garden Dessert menu.
5PA will continue reading and analyzing 2 poems this week entitled Remembering & The Visit.

4th Grade: Nonfiction articles and beginning The Secret Garden

5th Grade: Finished forging identity and starting All Summer in a Day

Week of October 23-27

3rd Grade: Reading the story of Shells and working on charater change over time, vocabulary, and literary elements of a story.

4th Grade: 4th Graders will be reading , annotating, and analyzing the stories "Lenny's Red Letter Day", &"The Old Man and His Affectionate Son".

5th Grade: Students continue making and sharing their Hemulen Theme Parks.

Game Day is Friday, October 27th for all PA classes.
