Meet Mr. Ross

When tasked by his own high school guidance counselor to name five career choices, Mr. Ross quickly named engineering and teaching as his first and second choice (followed by meteorology, pilot and chef). After enjoying a long career as an engineer, Mr. Ross fulfilled a calling to teach. He was thrilled to join the Technology and Engineering staff at Neuqua Valley High School for the 2017-18 school year, allowing him to share an enthusiasm for engineering with students either eager to study it in college or who are just exploring engineering in high school.

Engineering Career

Mr. Ross spent nearly 20 years in the engineering industry, working at three leading consulting engineering companies in the Chicago area. Prominent project involvement in the area included the Illinois Route 59 reconstruction from the Fox Valley Mall to Interstate 88, the Interstate 190 expansion at O'Hare International Airport, and the Byrne Circle Interchange at the doorstep of downtown Chicago. He maintains a Professional Engineer registration in Colorado.

Education

After earning a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and engaging in a long engineering career, Mr. Ross earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching Secondary Science from National Louis University in Lisle. He possesses a Professional Educators License in llinois with endorsements in Technology (grades 9-12), Mathematics (9-12); Science: Physics (9-12), Science: Earth and Space Science (9-12), Physical Science (6-8) Mathematics (6-8), and Industrial Technology (6-8).
