What is "Blended Learning"?
Blended learning engages students in a combination of traditional in-class time as well as independent, "flexible" learning time. In this course, students will learn the concepts of American Government, and will also develop the independent learning skills that will be necessary to success beyond high school. Students who are able to self-monitor and are looking for more independence and self-direction would succeed in a blended class!
Topics you will explore in this class
What has government done for YOU lately? Students will explore the many (often invisible) ways in which different parts of government impact their daily life
Why do you believe what you believe? Students will engage in self-reflection to discover their own political beliefs, and where these beliefs come from
Mock Political Campaign and Election - students plan and run a simulated political campaign for either Speaker of the House or President
Commons Campaign - students will take over the Commons for one day to campaign to the entire student body
