Step 1: Get an overview of your topic.
Look for a wikipedia article or brief article in a book about your topic.
As a group, gather and organize the basic information into an outline, list, or concept map.
Step 2: Create a plan to find information
Look at your assignment sheet and create a list of questions to answer or sub-topics to pursue.
Think about what type of information you need to find and what type of source would have it.
Create a search strategy to find the information.
example: What was the timeline of the Golden State Killer's crimes? I want to find a news story about it.
"golden state killer" "timeline" "news" (the quotes tell Google to find a page that includes these words or phrases on the page.
