Club Description:
In conjunction with Aurora University, the Future Educators Association provides a club for interested students to explore careers in education. Club members are invited to attend conferences, observe professionals, and participate in local teacher recognition activities.
Educators Rising meets every other Friday morning in Room B103 (Main Building) at 6:45 am. Here are just some of the perks of being in this club:
Weekly meetings including activities that simulate teaching in a classroom.
Guest speakers from all areas of education, covering a variety of topics such as choosing a college, classroom management, lesson planning, and careers in teaching.
Internships that give students an opportunity to help teachers in a school classroom (elementary level) at least once a week, which is a great way to see if teaching is the "right" career path.
Teacher Shadow Days allows students to observe and work with a teacher for an entire day in the classroom of choice. Students can explore different age groups and subjects each semester.
The Read for the Record activity gives students an opportunity to read a book to kindergartens and first graders and "teach" an activity related to the book at a local grade school.
A variety of teacher appreciation activities to recognize and interact with influential educators.
Education-related community service such as tutoring or homework clubs
Membership in a professional, international organization looks great on students' college applications and resumes.
Partnership with Aurora University offers students leadership and teacher training.
