PA Timeline for Parents: Elementary School

Fall:        Screening and Initial Data Review

• All students in grades 2 and 5 will be given the Cognitive Abilities test.

• Students' standardized test scores on file will be reviewed.

• Student's district assessment test scores will be reviewed.

• There will also be a review of observational classroom data.

Winter:       Data Collection

• Administration of additional ability and or/achievement tests for students whose prior standardized test scores or classroom performance falls with in the top 10% of academic peers.

During this time, the following are reviewed:

• Classroom assessments

• District assessments

• Student artifacts

• Teacher/parent input

Spring:           Data Analysis

• Student Profile Worksheet will be completed .  Please see the links below for examples of these profile sheets.

• Grades 2-5

• Grade 5 MS Math Transition

Spring:        Decision

• If a student's profile score falls within the qualification range, then they are recommended for the program.  Parents are notified by letter mailed from the school.
