Word Study
Word study teaches spelling patterns and phonemic awareness, and helps students become successful readers and writers.
Students will take a pretest that will determine which list they will be working with for the week. The results of the pretest and their new word list will come home at the beginning of every testing week. The post-test will be at the end of the week. Students will have the opportunity to practice the words at school, but should also be practicing these words at home. Not only should they be able to spell them, but they must know the meaning of each word and be able to use the word in a sentence. You can look at the top of each word list to see what are focus for the week is.
Here are some websites you can use to help practice your words. All you have to do is type in the words and they give you practice games. Have fun!
