Aloha,

I am Mr. Gonzalez and I have been teaching at IPA since 2021. I enjoy guiding, mentoring and teaching musical instruments to our students. 

My primary instrument is drums however I love teaching all the musical instruments.

About me

I am Cathy Almazan, and I am the Secondary Art Teacher at IPA. I have my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Interior Design. I love to teach Art because Art brings out creativity, self-reflection, self-expression, and conversation among students and the school community. 

About Ms. Steele

My name is Ms. Steele and I teach middle school Design Thinking 7: Introduction to Jewelry + Metalsmithing, and high school Jewelry + Metalsmithing. I originally hail from New Hampshire and I earned my BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). After RISD, I studied at the Gemological Institute of America in New York City and am a Graduate Gemologist. In my free time, I enjoy gemstone setting, tending to a garden, and hiking the various trails around Oahu.

About Dr. Dee

Aloha! My name is Dr. Dee, and I teach Computer Science, Robotics, and Game Development. Originally, I am from Ohio, where I studied Chemistry and English Literature at Denison University. I then attended graduate school at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). After obtaining my PhD in Physical Chemistry at UCLA, I moved to Hawaii with my husband and daughter, Mei. In my free time, I enjoy gaming, hiking, and sailing.

About Ms. Abragar

Aloha! My name is Ms. Erinn Abragar, and I teach Digital Storytelling, Graphic Design, and Journalism.  I am also the yearbook adviser.  I was born and raised in Hawai'i. I have a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education - English.  While the courses I teach are heavy in technology, I have a love and passion for storytelling and the written word.  In my free time, I like to work on my podcast, read, do Muay Thai, and spend time with my family and friends.

Aloha Kakou,

As a middle and high school ceramics teacher, I am thrilled to inspire and motivate our IPA art students for over 15 years. Helping students to grow in appreciation of the arts, while promoting confidence, creativity and self expression.  As an artist, I have been an invited guest artist at RISD, numerous colleges and  high schools on the East and West Coast, Virginia Clay Works Symposium, as well as chairing many well know Hawaii base art events, such as "Raku Hoolaulea". I also carry a USCG Master's license from Hawaii Martime Time Academy.  When I'm not teaching or on the water, I enjoy time with my family and traveling.

About NAHS


The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is a group that acknowledges high performance in the arts and promotes lifelong learning towards art education for students in Grades 10-12. Students in the IPA NAHS will be assisting with ceramic raku firing during this event. We welcome you to stop by and enjoy an evening of the arts with us!
